Singapore Telecommunications Limited, which is commonly referred as SingTel is the largest telecommunication company in Singapore. Earlier SingTel was known as Telecom Equipment. Singapore Telecommunications Limited boasts of providing its services to as much as 124 million subscribers. The telecommunication giant apart from its own operations provides its services to the customers through many regional associates. In the Asia Pacific region Singapore Telecommunications Limited is noted for being the largest mobile service provider. SingTel was established in Singapore in the year 1879. The operations of Singapore Telecommunications Limited has been growing at a very rapid rate and for it the telecom giant had decided to expand its operation outside the market of Singapore. The expansion strategy of SingTel led them to own 100 % stake over Optus, which is one of the most popular Australian telecom company. The major number of shares of the telecom company is owned by Temasek Holdings. The chairman of SingTel is Chumpol NaLamlieng. The CEO of the company is Chua Sock Koong. The widespread presence of Singapore Telecommunications Limited can be seen through its various subsidaries and associated companies. SingTel has got 21.4 % share holding in the company Advanced Info Service that operates in Thailand. Advanced Info Service has got market dominance in Thailand with 52 % market shares. In Thailand, SingTel has got proportionate subscribers of about 3.710 million. SingTel has even got 30.6 % shareholdings in the Bharti Group, Which is one of the leading service providers in India with market share of 29 %. The proportionate subscribers of SingTel in India is about 12.34 million.
 
 
The shareholding of SingTel in Globe Telecom based in Philippines is about 44.6 %. Globe Telecom has got domestic market share in Philippines of about 37 %. The proportionate subscribers in Philippines is accounted to about 6.193 million. The largest shareholding of SingTel is in the Australian based company Optus, of about 100 %. Thus it reaches up to 6.555 million subscribers. Optus has a market share of about 32.5 % in Australian market. SingTel even has got shareholding in the Indonesian company Telkomsel of about 35 %. The proportionate subscribers are of about 10.245 million in Indonesia. At present Telkomsel enjoys a market leadership by acquiring 55 % of market share in the domestic market.
