Orascom Telecom
A global trend of surging growth among the telecommunication companies based at various corners of the world can be clearly seen. As per the recent surveys Orascom Telecom has more than 63 million subscribers as of the mid of 2007. Banglalink is a subsidiary company of Orascom Telecom that has been catering to the needs of numerous customers in Bangladesh by providing mobile phone service. Banglalink has in fact come up as the 3rd largest service telecom service provider in Bangladesh. The company has a huge subscriber base in the country that accounts to about 6.61 million. Banglalink has become immensely popular mobile phone service provider in Bangladesh through its service of free incoming facility for the users of prepay mobile as well as post paid mobile service connections.
Orascom Telecom has spread its roots in the domestic market of Algeria through the subsidiary Djezzy GSM. Through Djezzy GSM, Orascom Telecom has made a subscriber base comprising 9.4 million subscribers as of mid 2006. The company has a dominance on the domestic telecom market of Algeria with a market share of about 65 %. The GSM license that came into existence in Algeria in the year 2001 was also acquired by Djezzy GSM. Orascom Telecom has even spread its operations in Egypt through the company Mobinil.
Mobinil is in fact regarded as the first telecom company in Egypt that received ISO 14001 certification standard. The company even has the certification of the OHSAS 18001 standards. It is believed that Mobinil has got as much as 3105 number of sites and about 27 switches. Mobilink is another subsidiary of Orascom Telecom that operates in Pakistan. As per the latest statistical reports Mobilink has about 28.57 million subscribers as of September 2007. The head office of Mobilink is based in the capital city of Pakistan.
